Design & concept

Camouflage Field reflects a fundamental survival strategy observed across multiple rare and endangered species — the ability to reduce visibility within an environment.

Rather than relying on color alone, species such as the snow leopard, leaf-tailed gecko, and cuttlefish survive by disrupting their outline, fragmenting their form, and blending into surrounding spatial patterns. This reduces recognition and interferes with predator perception.

The artwork translates this mechanism into a minimal field of dispersed linear elements.

Instead of forming a defined shape, the composition breaks continuity:
• elements are distributed rather than connected
• density shifts create areas of presence and absence
• edges dissolve into surrounding space

This controlled fragmentation reflects how perception is disrupted rather than avoided.

The composition avoids central focus, allowing the form to feel adaptive and unresolved — existing within the space rather than standing apart from it.
