Canopy Layer — Study 07

Climate & Nature Collection

About the work

A restrained study of layered growth expressed through minimal symbolic form.

Canopy Layer explores the vertical structure of plant systems through a balanced arrangement of lines extending above and below a central ground plane. Reduced to essential elements, the composition reflects the relationship between roots, surface, and canopy within natural environments.

The structure emphasizes stability, expansion, and interconnected growth.

Design & concept

A central vertical line represents the core structure of plant growth — connecting root and canopy.

Above the surface, a sequence of expanding curved lines represents the canopy layer — the outward spread of foliage interacting with light and air.
Below, mirrored root lines extend downward, reflecting the hidden foundation that supports visible growth.

A horizontal line establishes the ground boundary — a point of transition between visible and unseen systems.

Reduced to essential strokes, the composition communicates growth through clarity, balance, and restraint rather than visual complexity.

Structured spacing and controlled negative space allow the work to breathe within the frame, creating a calm architectural presence.

Presentation

The artwork is printed on museum-quality matte paper using precision water-based inkjet printing, preserving line clarity and tonal balance.

A white mat board surrounds the print, creating depth and allowing the artwork to sit quietly within the frame.

The natural ayous wood frame provides a minimal structural edge that complements the restrained visual language of the Climate & Nature Collection.
