Second Look — Study 01 translates this moment into five independent, nested open contours, set within a spacious portrait field.

The almost-square composition establishes a measured order, while subtle interruptions invite the viewer to look again.

Design & concept

An ordinary scene can hold something we have passed over many times.

Light falls differently. An overlooked detail becomes visible. What seemed understood begins to invite a question.

Within the collection’s opening story, this begins with a woman noticing sunlight passing through a glass of water.

Second Look translates that act of attention into a quiet geometric structure.

Five nested contours share a familiar rectangular language. Their repeated spacing creates an immediate sense of order.

Along the right side, openings interrupt the repetition. Small changes around the inner edges draw attention towards a space away from the centre.

Each contour remains separate, allowing the eye to compare where the lines stop and what their intervals reveal.

The composition holds this moment open, giving the viewer a reason to return.

Fine grey linework sits within a soft warm-white field, with generous negative space allowing small differences to become visible through closer observation.
